The Auburn Courthouse, my first time photographing a building. Whevever I do markets in Auburn, pretty frequently I'll get asked if I have anything of the courthouse. My photography journey started with hiking and a love for nature, so I never thought to photograph buildings. But after enough people asked for it, I thought maybe it was time to give it a shot.

My vision was to try to get as high as I could. I felt like that was the only way to really capture the full historical element of it. Everything I saw online was shot low and close, and the top of it wasn't really in the shot. It's kind of on a hill, so it's hard to get high enough to capture everything without a drone. I also wanted to get it at sunset, and the clouds seemed good for a dramatic sky, so I set out with about 2 hours to spare to give myself enough time to look for a good vantage point. After walking around for a bit, there wasn't anywhere to get high enough like I envisioned. This corner here was the highest I could get with a clear view of the building. After racking my brain for a bit, I thought, "why don't I park my car at that corner and stand on top of my car?" So that's what I did.

I had about an hour to spare, so I sat in my car and waited for the sun to set. As soon as the sky started to turn pink, I got on top of my car, held my camera above my head as high as I could, and took the photo. Pink skies, historical building with the stairway and the courtyard. It seemed to have everything. Standing on top of the CRV for the win.
