We were on my wife's family's annual summer vacation in Santa Cruz, CA, and I was hoping to get my first beach shot of my photography life. I found a couple trails that I wanted to try on the North side of the county, and this one that they called Fern Grotto Cliffs seemed promising.
We spent about an hour exploring the cliffs, and I couldn't find anything that seemed to work. With the sun starting to set I was beginning to think I would be leaving with nothing. My wife and I got seperated for a bit, and I could hear her calling for me trying to get my attention. As I got closer I could hear her telling me to come see this spot. I went over there as fast as I could and I couldn't believe what she found. Just in time for the setting sun, my wife found the perfect spot for this place.
And with that, my very first beach shot was in the bag.
