Zephyr Cove was one area of Lake Tahoe I hadn't been to yet. I had someone ask me for a photo there, so it was finally time to make it out.
The forecast seemed favorable for some colorful skies, so I headed out excited to see a new part of the lake. I had seen photos of this tree/rocky island here before, so as soon as I got there, I started looking for it. I saw it quite a ways down the shoreline and started making my way over there. When I got there, I was a little bummed to see a couple was doing an engagement shoot right where I wanted to take the photograph. I waited around for a bit, trying not to be in their way, and hoping that it wouldn't cause me to not be able take the shot from where I wanted. But shortly after, they moved to a different part of the lake, so I walked down to the shoreline and started setting up my camera and tripod.
There was one big cloud hanging around the top of the mountains that I couldn't wait to see how it lit up. As the sun was setting the cloud began to dissipate more and more, and I hoped it would hang on just long enough to get me something. Once the sun finally set, this disppitating string of cloud kind of looked like smoke from a volcanic eruption. And then it just so happened a little family of ducks swam by to give me the perfect piece for the foreground.
